Every spring I spend time in the desert Southwest, camping in remote places, beginning every day watching the stars fade into sunrise, hiking, painting, soaking in remote hot springs, and savoring the fantastic glory of the night sky. One week every spring, I invite others to join me. In 2016, Gerald Bryant, director of the Geology Field Institute at Dixie State University in St. George, Utah, led twelve of us on a geology field trip to explore the dramatic rocks surrounding St. George.
In 2017, our geology trip will visit Grand Canyon, Zion, Bryce, and Coral Pink Sand Dunes. Dr. Bryan will again be our instructor.
